The 12 Giveaways of Christmas - How to Win!

We are very pleased to announce our 2nd annual "The 12 Giveaways of Christmas!" We had so much fun with this event last year that we knew we had to do it again this holiday season. Throughout the month of December, we will be hosting 12 giveaways filled with inspiring beads, beading supplies, tools, and other goodies. It was an absolute delight putting theses giveaways together—we hope you find them as inspiring as we did.

Each giveaway is valued at a minimum of $50 and many are worth much more than that. We will be revealing the details of each prize on the day the giveaway starts in the form of a post on this blog and an email announcement to our newsletter subscribers. (Not on the list? Sign up now using the form in our sidebar and get a $5 coupon!)

To enter each giveaway, simply leave a comment on the giveaway's blog post. The duration of the giveaway and your time to enter will be clearly listed in the post. When the giveaway ends, we will not allow further comments, we will mark the post as "This Giveaway is Now CLOSED", and we will draw a winner at random.

There will sometimes be several giveaways active at the same time. To help you keep track of all the happenings, a schedule is below as well as on a special page at Beadaholique (complete with hints as to what the giveaway is). Please note, each giveaway will start at 12AM ET and end at 7PM ET on the dates listed.  For those on Pacific Time, this is actually 9PM PT the date before, ending at 4PM PT.

To enter a giveaway, leave a comment on the giveaway's blog post. You can comment on as many giveaways as you like, but you can only win once. Please only comment once per individual giveaway. Multiple comments by the same person on the same giveaway will result in that person being disqualified for that giveaway.

The duration during which comments (entries) for each contest will be accepted will vary and will be stated for each contest individually. For instance, there might be a longer comment period for a giveaway started on a Thursday vs. a Tuesday.

Winner for each giveaway will be drawn at random.

As an added bonus this year, there will be a 24-hour flash sale launched with each giveaway!  All details will be revealed on the dates listed above.

IMPORTANT: When entering, please do not comment anonymously; we must have a way to notify the winner. If you comment using your Facebook profile, make sure that your privacy settings will allow us to contact you.

We will send a notification email and/or Facebook message (when applicable) to the winner. Winner must respond within 2 business days or a new winner will be randomly selected.

Best of luck to all!

Thrifty Gifty Spotlight: Resin Charm Bookmarks

If you have any avid readers on your holiday gift list, here are the perfect personalized gifts for them.  What's more, they're very budget friendly, and quick and easy to make.  Hooray!

This is my "Reading is a Hoot Bookmark", with step by step instructions here.  You can see that the price for one kit is $14.91.  But if you choose two colors of crystal faux pearls that will match an assortment of resin charms, or if you want to make multiples of the same bookmark, you can lower your price per piece quite a bit!

You will have enough beads for quite a few bookmarks, and you will have enough eye pins for 10.  To make a set of 10 bookmarks, you'll need to buy four more packages of bookmark findings.  You will also need to choose a total of 10 resin charms that you like that all match your pearl beads.  Once you add in those additional costs and break it down, you're looking at just $4.64 per bookmark.  And actually, that's assuming that you choose all charms that cost $2.49 each.  But many of our resin charms are as low as $1.99, which would mean a total cost of just $4.14 per bookmark.  It's a great little gift for such a little price tag, and you can personalize the charms and colors to suit everyone on your list!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Beadaholique Designers

Thanksgiving is one of our very favorite holidays. Of course the food is delicious and having a day off is always nice, but it is the fact that this holiday is specifically for "giving thanks" that makes it so special. On this Thanksgiving we want to say a special thanks to all of our beading friends and everyone in the Beadaholique community. Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration and for sharing your love of beading with us. We love hearing from those who watch our videos and follow our projects. From your questions and feedback we have grown as artists and that is a precious gift. We are very grateful to be doing a job that we love, to be surrounded by new friends and old, to have wonderful husbands and dear families, and to be able to say that we are truly happy. We hope this time of year is filled with lots of love and happiness for you too and that your love for beading only continues to grow.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone,
Julie Bean & Megan Milliken

Halloween Contest Winner

Our congratulations to Oksana Gaevskaya, winner of the Facebook fan vote for her entry Cute Ghosts. These adorable earrings feature size 11/0 Miyuki Delica seed beads.

Oksana has won a $100 Beadaholique gift certificate—congratulations!  Oksana's actually won one of our contests before, which is a first for us!  You can see her artist profile here.

This month's Editor's Pick goes to Kirstin Kidd for her Spooky Spider. Kirstin's fascinating use of wire, clever design, and attention to detail had everyone at Beadaholique very impressed. He is quite spooky, and wonderfully so!

Thrifty Gifty Spotlight: Noodle Bead Bracelets!

If you follow fashion trends (and probably even if you don't) you know how popular the humble bracelet has lately become.  We are seeing them everywhere in all sorts of forms.   One of the biggest hits and one of my favorites is the noodle bead bracelet.  There are many different varieties, but here is my version:

I made mine from pretty colors of waxed cotton cord, with gold and silver plated noodle beads.  Then I glued the cords into sleek little cord ends and used magnetic clasps - my favorite bracelet clasp for ease of use and how clean they look.

But here's the best part: these little beauties pack a lot of value!  You can find the list of supplies here on the project instruction page.  Now, on there, you'll see that the complete supply kit (everything but the tools) will cost you $15.31.  But if you look at the quantities, you'll see that the kit actually gives you enough supplies for two bracelets, which equals $7.66 each.

Even better than that, though, is that all you need to do is buy an extra package of cord ends and an extra package of noodle beads, and you'll have enough for four bracelets!  With the extra pieces factored in, you can make four bracelets for just $5.02 each.  They'd make a perfect gift for your girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, nieces, co-workers, or anyone else, and you can make a whole bunch of them in no time!

Another fun thing to mention is that you can add in a second color of waxed cotton cord for $2.75 and make your bracelets two-tone like the red and blue bracelet shown above.

I'm thinking of having a little crafty party with a few of my friends to make a bunch of these for gifts.  Wouldn't that be fun?  We can just pitch in for a bunch of supplies and go to town!
